Based on the article alone, I feel for her. If she’s always done deals like this in the past and the financing was suddenly and mysteriously frozen in the middle of production, I can’t say I blame her much at all. She’s not dumping it on just one investor, she’s dumping it on the only [...]

Haha. I read that way too fast. My bad! I recently saw a documentary about a New England family that was actually one of the largest slave owning families in America. Apparently slavery was just as big if not bigger here in the North compared to the South. Not suggesting you try that topic, but [...]

If I’m not mistaken, there’s a rapidly growing Muslim population in England and pretty recently Muhammad was the second most popular name given to newborn boys. And there was at least in the recent past an issue with a possible split legal system? English Law Issue Depending on how you handle the topic, I think it [...]

@Dark – Rest assured, I’m diversifying. This is simply the first project out of the gates. I have five feature scripts I’m developing with writers, several books I’m working on acquiring the rights to, and another teaser in the global thriller/action genre. As for the tone being similar, it’s a shame really, we shot this [...]

I think I just answered my own question. Saw a post you had up about Chicago. So you’re going to be a Columbia grad, eh? I went there for producing, graduated a few years ago. I also believe you mentioned some feature scripts you had finished? If you’re looking for feedback/notes, let me know! Stalking [...]

@Dunne – Thanks for the heads up. Where are you currently enrolled?
I’m moving out there in January to see if I can make things happen in the thick of it.
Keep me posted!

@John – The door sounds are her banging against the door, not other doors opening and closing. Our sound guy was working with limited resources on a pretty tight schedule, so I’m sure they’d be improved in a feature version. I’m no gun expert either, but I’ll definitely pass that on to the Director who plans [...]

@Dark – It’s murky.
Trailer – Montage of images/footage from the film usually with voiceover and music.
Teaser – A taste of the film through a specific moment or scene.
That’s what I was taught and generally agree with these days.

@Donovan – CeltX is pretty good. Scenechronize.com has some great stuff and is free for small projects (minus certain features). Or you can always try to get EP Budgeting and Scheduling with the Academic discount. Much cheaper that way.

@Dark – Agreed. I think this sort of pacing works in a film as you’re already invested, but as you note in another post, you’re not yet invested so it ought to come sooner. I think we’ll leave it be for now, but may create a tighter final version of all of these for something [...]

@John – I’m enjoying the score for the most part, but I still wonder if it’s not a bit heavy for what we’re seeing on the screen. The blaring horns reminded me of Inception, but nothing happening in the scene is matching the scope of the score. Of course you already know what I think of [...]

It’s amazing how often a contingency or insurance are not included in an Indie budget. Without a contingency, you can’t afford for anything to go wrong (something always does) and without insurance you’re putting you, your cast, your crew, and your film in jeopardy.

@Samurai & John – Glad to hear it guys. And in hindsight, the order probably could have been switched. Tomorrow’s teaser, “Flyover”, has a solid VFX moment mostly to allude to other elements at play and our capabilities.

@Dark – Love the line “Hamilton raises his foot and brings it down like a hammer.” Reminds me of the curb stomp in American History X. Keep it coming.
