And I can’t fathom why you bring this up as there have been several people who’s portraits have been featured despite them having even less to do with filmmaking than Miss Perry.
We also have pictures of sunsets that have never stared in a movie. Maybe we should find some pictures of bowls of fruit to illustrate great photography, but personally I prefer Ms. Perry.
I guess “Lowtech” was so offended that instead of scrolling to something else he needed to stay on the pic, take the time to post a comment, then continue to follow it and post follow up comments Personally I think a better use of his time is to go outside, get some fresh air and play a nice game of hide and go fuck yourself. .
Ok I will
Katy Perry had a widely released concert movie that has already grossed 25 million dollars.
So for you, the quality of the movie depend of the money they make ? Wow, that’s a argument.
Katy Perry makes music videos. No, Marketing people do this kind of music video. I hope you don’t think that she had a say on the plot ?
Katy Perry closely cultivates her image through media and music – perhaps second only to Lady Gaga in terms of personal image. So that’s why people make movie ? Cultivates a image ?
But you are right, this site is not for me. Last year yes, but now i don’t see people who love and make movie ( they probably all gone elsewhere by now). Once again i’m sorry, i thought this was a site about movie making, not a site about what John P. Hess think what it should be.
You really are a special kind of asshole. Not only do you claim to be offended by this post, you decided to promote your own website on it (I deleted your link). You also have zero understanding of this site and who controls it.
Yes, I forgive your “Bad English” I just wish you didn’t know any at all. Although it does make me smile.
PS
The only reason you have not been banned is because I want the world to have a record of your stupidity.
Your English is excellent – it’s your perspective that’s lacking.
So for you, the quality of the movie depend of the money they make ? Wow, that’s a argument.
I’m not making a quality judgement by bringing up the fact that her movie made $25 million at the box office (just in the U.S). Taking a rough $10 per ticket estimate that’s 2.5 million tickets sold. Do you have a movie that had 2.5 million people pay money to see?
Box Office Mojo states that the film had a $12 million production budget. That’s money going into an industry that supports thousands of people – camera ops, editors, carpenters, lighting grips, roadies, drivers, stage hands, ushers, vendor workers… Regardless of what you think of the “quality” of the movie, that’s money that people live on. That’s somebody’s grocery money, some one’s rent money, the final payment on a child’s braces.
All those people are taken care of by this celebrity product called Katy Perry. A product that you may not enjoy but enough people do that it can keep itself going year after year since she hit it big in 2007.
Even if the movie wasn’t good (I don’t know and I really don’t care because it wasn’t made for people like me) how can you deny the fact that it does more good for more people than some artsy movie that nobody saw and nobody got paid on?
Katy Perry makes music videos. No, Marketing people do this kind of music video. I hope you don’t think that she had a say on the plot ?
Of course she does. A name like Katy Perry is going to have a say in her product. She’s going to have to work with producers and record labels but no artist can achieve that level of stardom without having their own unique fingerprint on the work they produce.
But even if she didn’t – why is the work of marketing people mean less. They’re also artists, musicians and filmmakers.
If you’re a director trying to break into commercial work should you not be familiar with Katy Perry’s style?
Katy Perry closely cultivates her image …So that’s why people make movie ? Cultivates a image ?
You think Tarantino doesn’t cultivate an image? Kubrick? Fellini? What else is a movie besides an image and sound? Story is by product of image and sound – you can’t get there without style first.
Everything is calculated. Everything is in place. If you know Katy Perry, she’s usually wearing heavy eye shadow and wild colored hair. Here, she’s natural – naked both literally and figuratively.
But you are right, this site is not for me. Last year yes, but now i don’t see people who love and make movie ( they probably all gone elsewhere by now). Once again i’m sorry, i thought this was a site about movie making, not a site about what John P. Hess think what it should be.
This site is about filmmaking on a level so much deeper than you currently understand – Although I do enjoy the deep irony of being told that I don’t know what FilmmakerIQ is.
There was a moment in my career when I saw the deeper meaning of filmmaking – it doesn’t need to be relegated to the creaking corners of DIY tutorials and camera specs. There’s wonder in filmmaking – titillation, humor, sadness, longing, rage, redemption, weirdness.
Those are the elements of cinema, not F-stops. But if you never open your eyes to filmmaking on that deep level, you might as well move on to another hopefully less expensive hobby because you won’t last more than 3 years in this field whether you’re doing it as a profession or not.
RE: FOR US MOVIE MAKING IS NOT A HOBBY IT’S OUR DAY JOB FOR 3 YEARS NOW
If Francine sign with the lowtech factory site if to show you than we are serious people not wannabe who post their film on vimeo ( except from 30 seconds).
Please next time get your fact straight, and please delete our comments if you don’t like it. ( No, please delete ours comment and our account)
Ps: We know that you don’t have a career. But think, is that what image you want people to have of you ? A fat guy who put naked pictures on this site who hope to make it ? Sad !
We never say you don’t understand Filmmaker IQ, Francine said you don’t understand movie. Your films are there to prove it
The post was a simple comment, that’s all
Nothing but ad hominem attacks against me and done in a cowardly PS tucked away in a PM. That’s why I’m airing it publicly. There is no rebut here – just the sanctity of their “artistic ego” which I called in question.
Seems to me the major offense of this image was to show some skin. Apparently these “artists” at Lowtech have never stepped foot in a Renaissance Art gallery.
We send you a private message was to not embarrassed you. But we now see that you don’t need us for that.
Please stop the intellectual gymnastic. You are not a pro ( yet). A Pro dont do that kind of things.
Let’s stop this, My god that’s was only a comment about a bad picture of a almost naked girl..
Now
See a REAL film
Listen to REAL music
Go to a museum
read a book
Learn to play a instrument
Maybe buy new glasses
Get a degree of some sort ( Were all from Comcordia ans UQAM, good university, with a good cinema program you know)
And please please please stop embasrasing yourself
I think the embarressment is them. They are fighting a lost cause as they again pick on a portrait which has had similar content before. As for it being bad; it follows the Golden Thread, her posture creates triangular shapes and her skin tones match well with the sand background as does her eyes and the sky.
What would they consider good? (Must have similar content to validate their opinion)
Banning them would only make the believe they were right. No they must stay and if they have any more ridiculous opinions share with everyone and stand by by them with the same resolve.
Oh, my two favorite parts of this is what you said:
“There was a moment in my career when I saw the deeper meaning of filmmaking – it doesn’t need to be relegated to the creaking corners of DIY tutorials and camera specs. There’s wonder in filmmaking – titillation, humor, sadness, longing, rage, redemption, weirdness.” It’s profound and incredibly true.
And the fact that they claims to be professional filmmakers, when in reality no professional would EVER stoop to mocking the appearance of another man. The glasses and fat comment was mind boggling. I can’t even attempt to comprehend the forces that possessed the douche to the point of grade school insults!
I really wonder what Katy Perry have to do with movie ?
Please stop showing picture for the sake of showing picture of naked women. This has nothing to do with filmmaking.
Katy Perry had a widely released concert movie that has already grossed 25 million dollars.
Katy Perry makes music videos.
Katy Perry closely cultivates her image through media and music – perhaps second only to Lady Gaga in terms of personal image.
So yes, this has everything to do with filmmaking. If you don’t see it, maybe this site isn’t the place for you.

Sorry, but i can’t state all that is wrong with your answers.

Sorry for the bad english.
Bro, John P. Hess is FilmmakerIQ…
I think this is quite a nice picture of Katy Perry! To quote my crazy science teacher, “Use a higher level of thinking!”
You really are a special kind of asshole. Not only do you claim to be offended by this post, you decided to promote your own website on it (I deleted your link). You also have zero understanding of this site and who controls it.

If anyone tries to rebuke that, they are just a troll and would get no respect from me.
So this is the angry private message I got:
Nothing but ad hominem attacks against me and done in a cowardly PS tucked away in a PM. That’s why I’m airing it publicly. There is no rebut here – just the sanctity of their “artistic ego” which I called in question.

Small minds make boring films.
Yet another PM:
Do we have enough proof?
Called it!
I think the embarressment is them. They are fighting a lost cause as they again pick on a portrait which has had similar content before. What a coward… I would love to see them banned. But then again, I like reading their comments.
Banning them would only make the believe they were right. No they must stay and if they have any more ridiculous opinions share with everyone and stand by by them with the same resolve.
They deleted their account but these comments will stand.
Good, because I laugh every time I pass over them!
