Last Saturday I was given a Panasonic HDC-HS80. And with a little help from secret santa, I got a copy of Sony Vegas 11. Also I need to put a film into Film Devour this month.
I really appreciated the Panasonic but it does have some drawbacks, it’s not an HD sensor, it really doesn’t like low light and there’s no mic input. It has a surprising amount of controls, best of all it can get down to 25fps and set the iris.
Sony Vegas 11 Platinum was really a way to speed up workflow, most of my projects don’t need the full force and horrendous rendering times of the Adobe CS4, but I need more than Windows Movie Maker. It’s not the easiest to get to grip with, and I would say it’s attempts at being intuative is what makes it difficult to get your head round. But it does the job.
