Ian Abercrombie, was a pretty busy character actor, who eventually gained TV recognition as Elaine’s eccentric boss Mr. Pitt on “Seinfeld” died Thursday in Hollywood. He was 77. The actor had a career spanning 50 years and has appeared in such films as “Army of Darkness,” “Young Frankenstein,” and “Jurassic Park 2.” He was also a popular voice actor- contributing to “Star Wars: Clone Wars” and “Green Lantern” animated series, and “Rango” to name a few. On television, he was a regular on the WB Network series “Birds of Prey” and worked on many shows, “Get Smart,” “Hunter,” “L.A. Law,” “Dynasty,” “Northern Exposure,” “NewsRadio,” “Murphy Brown,” “Desperate Housewives,” etc (see IMDb). But Abercrombie will most likely be best remembered for his seven episodes of “Seinfeld,” as Justin Pitt, Elaine’s picky boss, eating his candy bars with a knife and fork and wearing white knee socks. RIP Mr. Abercombie- you were a gentleman and will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
