I’ve build a hand held housing for two cameras, the center of the cameras lenses are 3 1/2″ inches apart and the camera are level with each other. Using monitors to preview I set the two cameras inward towards themselves until I have the same image in both cameras (from there own perspective of course). I cue the cameras to record at the same moment and after my shot I import the two recordings into the software to superimpose the anaglyph effect. Put the cyan/red glasses on and wow, works beautifully.
My only problem is I don’t have a formula or any way to duplicate the same registration procedure. I can only guess that the effect will work if I have the two cameras capturing approximately the same image and the cameras are level. Does any one know if doing the math between three points to get a registration equation is the best way to achieve this or is there another way to always get the right angles for this stereo effect?

Wow. I’d say this is the first time on this board that someone came up with a question so technical that I’m totally stumped.

My initial guess is that you would figure it out based on the focal length, focal distance to subject, and angle of view of the lens. I’d almost be willing to say that if you get it working that it should work for any point that is beyond the minimal focal distance. However, when you’d start getting into macro distances I’m sure it might get a little screwy
