I am a twenty year old student (Occupational therapy) living in Belgium and my passion is like anyone of you I guess: filmmaking!
I graduated from high school three years ago and always wanted to study ‘film’ but never did this, ’cause of the bad future perspectives the people were saying (and I was too young too). Now, we are thee years further and I thought to do something with this.
I’ve been researching for the past few months all of the internet for clips, information, forum’s, photo’s, … and reading books to learn more about this world. Now, I have finished my well paid student job so I finally had the money to afford something good.
I’ve purchased the Canon 60d body and Canon 50mm f1.4 lens, what gives an awesome look (after I learned how to work with it, the cinematic settings etc…)
Now I have these thousand and one questions that came along the road and I hope through time this can be the place to ask such questions? Otherwise, all tips and info are very welcome …
Thanks for your time to read this!
Welcome to the site Tessa!
as a fellow inhabitant of Belgium and a fellow moviemaker you get my sincerest greetings. I am currently 17 years old and just like you I have a desire to go to filmschool (RITS or l’INSAS) but I’ve also experienced the negative current. My dad wouldn’t stop telling that I would end up as a waiter, or working in a factory. Now he has mostly come to terms with it, (partially after having seen “Chante ton bac d’ abord” with him).
You may not go to film school, but I applaud your determination to follow your passion after all.
How do you actually go about making those shorts? Get people together? Get inspiration for new scripts? etc.
Sorry to bombard you like this… I just can’t hold my excitement of knowing that there is someone out there from whom I can learn.
Met vriendelijke groeten, Bobby
