I really disagree with Alex’s idea that the opening of the piece needs a music bed. It doesn’t, and he never explains why, just “that it does”. This is a big misconception about videomaking in general.
I agree – music is a crutch that I have been using for 10 years. There are some projects where I will happily let the music take over the narrative, but when it really matters, the music needs to add to the scene, not just carry otherwise boring visual imagery.
