David Bordwell discusses two different editing styles – Analytic, which starts with a master shot and moves in for tight shots and Constructive, which builds up the scene from a series of tight shots.
Sure do love how Bordwell and Thompson can destroy all emotional considerations when breaking down a scene.
That just comes with the territory when it comes to analysis. It’s part of the process.
