Video of Curiosity’s Descent onto Mars
At 10:32 PST Earth Time on August 5th, 2012, the scientists at JPL in Pasadena received the signals indicating that Curiosity safely touched down on Gale Crater on the fourth planet from the sun. The first small 64×64 thumbnails set the scientific community but now some full resolution images are coming through.
Here is a shot of Curiosity with it’s parachute deployed as it decelerates from over 13,200 mph to just 2 mph in a matter of 7 minutes.
The video of the descent:

Actually, that’s a wheel. The sun was too low to cast a shadow of the skycrane anywhere near where this camera is aimed. (As evidenced by one of the very first photos sent within? minutes of landing where you can see the rover’s shadow.) Still, very, very cool to see a part of the rover in the video!

speaking to, from Hidden Hills, California I want to say, I enjoyed this post. However, it is amazing how I ended up on your website. I searched for limousine service in kansas city on Bing and ended up on your website. I must say I do like your site and will check back soon. But I need to find the limo I was originally looking for first. Have a lovely day! cheerio.
