Walter Murch discusses Final Cut Pro X at the Boston SuperMeet, 2011. He talks about what it lacks, what he hopes for in the future and if really Apple loves us.
Murch has been editing sound in Hollywood since starting on Francis Ford Coppola’s film The Rain People. He edited sound on American Graffiti and The Godfather: Part II, won his first Academy Award nomination for The Conversation, won his first Oscar for Apocalypse Now, and won an unprecedented double Oscar for sound and film editing for his work on The English Patient.

As Walter said, he can’t use Final Cut X. That said, he did give them a long list of what he needed in it. Apple seems somewhat responsive, but it is a wait and see attitude. I like that he said that Apple “Likes” the Pros, but do they “Love” the Pros?
