John, I agree that many people do not know that to have a complete package a Scarlet will run you about $20k but to say that it sucks is a bit ignorant. You are entitled to your opinions and this is in no way bashing just pointing a few things out.
When rendering R3D files you can debayer them to facilitate your workflow.
Having a camera system that is modular allows you to upgrade your camera with out having to invest in another camera a few years from now. Overall I do think you have to be outlandish at times because people don’t do their homework and think this will cost them much less than it really will.
Like I said, all people will hear is that I said it sucks… not the context.
John, I heard the context and simply offered you an alternative from someone who’s done their research is all. It’s obvious you wanted to make a splash. I get it. But you have to understand the other side of the coin.
Thanks for the hard work.
See, this is the kind of exchange that’s healthy! I appreciate your opinion!
I also agree with the modular aspect – though a lot of what I buy for my DSLR has a similar mindset.
Undoubedly there is an over-the-top mentality that I’ve had to come into contact with recently that turns everything into black and white.
It sucks for most of us.
I’m not a current RED owner looking for a B cam. Might as well rent an Epic.
I think John and I have run into the same people, which is why I giggled through this entire podcast.
