I tried this today and it really does work better.
I don’t know where this guy learned to tie his shoes. I wonder if he’s left handed? I say this because I make my first “bunny ear” with the lace in my right hand and then loop the lace over and under, where as he makes his first bunny ear with his left hand and then loops the lace over and under. I noticed when I pulled the strands at the base of the knot that I tied the strong form, where as his way was the weak form. Then he goes on to show that if he continues to tie the shoe with the left bunny ear and instead goes inward under then it will tie a strong form knot. So what he’s done is changed the direction the knot goes, I get that. For me, it’s much easier to go over under then inward under and it’s also easier to tie the knot starting with my right bunny ear first, so that’s why I ask if he’s left handed. There’s one way I left out and that would be if I continue to start with the right bunny ear, instead of going over under try inward under (like he’s displaying above, only he’s starting with the left bunny ear first), then I end up with a weak knot just like he did to get a strong knot accept I started with my right bunny ear. I guess I just might of learned the right way, or else its just a matter of starting with the right bunny ear and going over under, or his way of starting with the left bunny ear and going inward under.. right?
I can’t believe I went out of my way to make this observation when all along I was tying my shoe right the whole time! But I did figure out that there are two working ways to tie your shoe with a strong knot, and two ways to tie a weak knot. It’s all a matter of preference.
I got to ask, why did you post this on a filmmaking blog anyways? lol
note the category it’s published in :P
Huh, so that’s why my shoes keep coming untied.
