Thanks for the tutorial Michael. There are many ways to approach color correction and it’s always nice to see how other people do it. I appreciate your technical/number analysis workflow but I find it very cumbersome. My approach is to use scopes and 3-way color to eyeball it and get the results I need. That I way i stay in my NLE and or AE and move faster towards my goal. Color correction is as much feel and impressions as much as straight numbers and info in my opinion. Every person uses a different method and whatever works….works. I think your workflow would take me too long to achieve my goals but thank you for sharing and best of luck.
You’re welcome solomojo. I understand your perspective. This tutorial was to explain the numbers behind color correction and apply it to existing footage without a gray card or other professional equipment. ‘Eyeballing it’ certainly is quicker, but less accurate.
Thanks for the comment!

This was perhaps the most accurate colour correction tutorial. I’ve seen footages with highlights blown out terribly and colours all burnt because of too much contrast which really kills the details. I like how this technique preserves the details and livens up the colours at the same time. Thank you for the video. :)
You’re welcome silica! I’m so glad it was helpful for you. Thank you for watching.
Hi, Great tutorial! I’m new to colour correction and wary of different results from monitors and unsure of my own ‘eye-balling’ skills as yet. This tutorial is just what I wanted to give me accuracy and confidence until my eye develops. Thanks Michael…
Good tutorial. I like learning new ways to do color correction because some clients also have a good eye for color so it’s good when u can satisfy their needs.
