America’s school systems are funded by the 50 states. In this fiery talk, Bill Gates says that state budgets are riddled with accounting tricks that disguise the true cost of health care and pensions and weighted with worsening deficits — with the financing of education at the losing end.

Nice. Concise. Would be interesting to look further into the shell game portion of the state budgets.
Back in Colorado, and I assume in other states, funding for education was the first to be cut. That was what really bothered me, that our politicians were more than willing to cut precious money from K-12 and higher education, but then those same politicians would vote themselves a pay raise.
