8K Super High-Definition Camera System
Posted on July 19, 2010 in Cinematography | 7 Comments
The NHK Science and Technology Research Laboratories are working on a full-resolution Super Hi-Vision camera system which can record, transmit, and display 8k video. The camera uses three 33 megapixel image sensors to record the image, and a built-in compact transmitter then transmits a 90 Gbps signal on a single optical cable to the camera control unit. The signal is then sent via four optical multi-cables to four tiled 2k displays, which then outputs the video at the full resolution of 7680×4320 pixels.

I bet this one won’t be showing up in a consumer version anytime soon!
I took a picture next to this at NAB 2005… They’ve been at it a while
8k would be 8192 pixels wide. This thing is 4x HD
And 4 tiled 2k monitors would only show a 4k picture. you’d need 16 2k monitors to show an 8k picture
no, it’s 8K
gosh wow,
technology moves on.
And while people speculate whether 4K is necessary, out comes 8k. Well I think that there is an 8K projector and Japan plan to broadcast 8K.
The kind of band required for that must surely threaten to fry your brain, lol
reckon I’ll hold out for the 32K…
I’ll wait for the lipstick cam version…
