Movie fans might have to wait to rent new DVD releases
In an attempt to reclaim plummeting DVD sales, Studios may be adopting a buy-only option for newly released DVDs.
Reed Hastings, chief executive of DVD-by-mail company Netflix, revealed that he had discussed delayed-rental proposals with several of his biggest suppliers. People close to the situation at several studios confirmed that such plans were under consideration and probably would take effect next year.

Ohh no no, this is just going to make things worse! The main reason for piracy in foreign countries is because of how long it takes American movies to be released there. If they delay rentals here, they’re just giving people another reason to pirate the DVDs!!
If they want to experiment with a new business model, why not JUST LOWERING THE PRICE. Yeah it’ll cut in to their per-unit profit, but it’ll even out with the increase of units sold.
