Intel Moves to Free Gadgets of Their Recharging Cords

The New York Times reports on Intel’s plans to cut the cord on recharging.
It says it has increased the efficiency of a technique for wirelessly powering consumer gadgets and computers, a development that could allow a person to simply place a device on a desktop or countertop to power it. It could bring the consumer electronics industry a step closer to a world without wires.

How about they do one thing right first, Invent an universal power connector, I got so many different ones it would take like 10 extension cords to get them all in, and I have to spend a lot of time making sure that x charger goes with x external disk, or with my bluetooh earpiece, or my european phone usb charger and my att phone charger,,,,, etc

Oh yeah! When reorganizing my office – everything looked so nice and tidy until I had to plug in everything. There must be at least 20 things plugged in at my desk – wires going every which way.
No the though of transmiting 60 watts of electricity in the air scares me a bit… but I imagine you could make a smart cup which you could put on the table and it would keep your coffee warm.
John is right I do worry about being on the inside of a microwave while it is on :P
but getting rid of those damn plugs might make it worh it
just don’t set my room to pop popcorn
